Prof. Uma Shanker Tiwary
Professor of Information Technology
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A), India
Chair, IHCI Society
Prof. Tiwary's research sits at the meeting point of human cognition and machine intelligence. Over three decades at IIIT-Allahabad he has worked across image and medical image processing, speech and language processing, and wavelet-based signal analysis, increasingly focused on how machines can read and interpret human emotion. His multimodal fusion framework for emotion recognition from physiological signals, published in NeuroImage, remains among the most cited work in the area, and his group has since released the DENS dataset for EEG-based emotion recognition under naturalistic stimuli. He co-authored Natural Language Processing and Information Retrieval (Oxford University Press), and serves as Chair of the IHCI Society.
